Who is it for
If music sequencing and production, Djing, or sound production and recording are your thing, then look no further! This specialised course will develop your music technology skills in order to follow a route that could lead to a career in the music industry or study at a higher level. If you're willing to work hard and strive to succeed, then this course will give you the valuable skills needed to do just that
within the music industry.
Interview Skills Assessment
You will be required to attend a Welcome Event, details will be provided upon application. You will also need to attend an audition before starting this course.
What will I need
4 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above and must include English and maths.
What is covered
During this course you will cover music sequencing and production, DJ skills, sound
production and recording, music production and remixing techniques, and learn about working in the music industry.
How is the course assessed
Through practical work, presentation (written and performance) and continuous assessment throughout the year.
What can this course lead to
The course prepares you for employment within the music industry and also provides an excellent grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as our Level 3 in Music Performance or Music Technology (you will need to pass the level 2 course in order to progress onto the level 3).
Are there any additional costs
As part of the course you will need to be available for select evening rehearsals
and performances (dates are provided well in advance) and you will require the
department's standard performance uniform (to be discussed at your interview). You will also need to provide your own headphones with 1/4” jack adaptors, a USB stick (minimum 16GB), and cover any field trip costs (if applicable).
You will need to be available for evening rehearsals and performances through the course.
