Who is it for
If you have a passion for media and want to work within the film, TV, publishing or radio industry, then this course is ideal for you.
Interview Skills Assessment
You will be required to attend a Welcome Event, details will be provided upon application. You may be asked to attend a second interview to show portfolio work.
What will I need
4 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above and must include English and maths.
What is covered
You will study three core units in this qualification:
• Exploring and developing creative media skills – creating a portfolio of work through a range of practical projects
• Personal development – planning for your future
• Responding to a creative brief – a major project where you can choose your area of specialism
How is the course assessed
Assessment is through the production of a portfolio of evidence based on practical work and assignments.
What can this course be combined with
You will be enrolled on a study programme that includes various aspects of study that complement your main programme of study. You could re–take GCSE English and Maths or study a functional skill. You could undertake a Trinity Arts Award or work on cross–college arts projects.
What can this course lead to
On successful completion of this course at Merit and the achievement of GCSE
English at grade 4/C, you can progress on to a level 3 programme in a media related subject or an apprenticeship, and then into careers including media, production and journalism.
