Who is it for

Do you enjoy working with children? Do you have great organisation skills and a good team player? Are you able to take responsibility whilst demonstrating a mature approach? If the answer is yes then this NCFE CACHE Level 3 course is for you.

Interview Skills Assessment

You will be required to attend a Welcome Event – details will be provided upon application.

What will I need

5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including English and maths.

If your career aspirations include working as a Primary School Teacher you will also require a GCSE grade at 4/C or above in science as this is a pre–requisite of all University applications for teaching degrees.

What is covered

This course will provide you with great preparation for a job within a supervisory role in the childcare and early years sector through learning and developing your knowledge in a number of key areas.

You will study child development, play and learning, professional practice, providing safe environments, child health and wellbeing and preparing children for school.

You will also be required to spend two days a week throughout the two year course (365 hours in total in the first year and 385 hours in total for the second year) in a variety of childcare settings which we will support you to find. You may also have the opportunity to study a recognised first aid course.

How is the course assessed

The course is assessed through assignments and an external assessment.

What can this course lead to

You can progress to university to study a degree in education/teacher training
or other child related programmes. The course also qualifies you for employment
in nurseries, primary schools– assistant, children's wards– play practitioner, maternity units– as a nursery practitioner and working alongside health visitors and social workers.

Are there any additional costs

You will need to purchase a college polo shirt (optional) for placement at £15.00.

Other details

You will need to have a DBS (Disclo­sure and Barring Service) Certificate with no grounds that you are professionally unsuitable to undertake professional practice or placement. Application for a DBS is managed by the College and we will contact you with the forms and guidance you require to complete this.
