Who is it for
If you want to create an amazing opportunity for your future career whilst advancing your knowledge and skills in this area, then this course is for you! It will allow you to study diverse subjects such as sculpture, fashion, fine art, printmaking, 3D design, textiles, plus many more. You will find this course challenging but exciting and it is a great alternative to traditional A Levels.
Interview Skills Assessment
Initially you will be required to attend a Welcome Event, details will be provided upon application.
What will I need
4 GCSEs at grades 4/C or above, including English and Maths and an arts or media based subject. Or Merit in a relevant Level 2 Diploma. In order to be offered a place on the course, you must also successfully complete a portfolio examination for arts and media. Further information will be sent to you when you are offered an interview date. Should entry requirements not be met we are open to review an applicant's grades/achievements on an individual basis and take into account creative ability.
What is covered
This practical course provides you with the opportunity to experience and to experiment with a range of art and design disciplines allowing you to communicate your ideas and imagination through a variety of means including sculpture, fashion, fine art, textiles, 3D design, photography, and print. You will also investigate contextual influences and learn how to reflect on your own practice and discuss the work of others.
During your study you will build an impressive portfolio of work to help you achieve your next step, whether that be one of the many jobs in the creative industry or going on to study art and design at university.
How is the course assessed
Assessment is continuous and an integral part of the learning process, providing opportunities to monitor your progress and identify strengths and weaknesses. Grades are given for each unit which will count towards the final grade and UCAS points.
What can this course be combined with
You will be enrolled on a study programme that includes various aspects of study that complement your main programme of study. You could re–take GCSE English and Maths or study a functional skill. You could undertake a Trinity Arts Award or work on cross–college arts projects.
What can this course lead to
This practical course will support you with moving on to higher education in subjects
such as fine art, architecture, textiles, fashion design, illustration, shoe and accessory design, game design, graphics and craft (amongst many other choices).

Are there any additional costs
Additional costs to include a £10 refundable deposit for an A1 portfolio locker and standard locker. Supplying your own art kit – a list of essentials and recommended items are issued before induction and costs for trips to galleries and museums.
