Entry is at the discretion of the Centre. However, learners should be aged at
least 16 to undertake the qualification.
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this
qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they've already achieved
a Level 1 qualification.

Who is it for

The need for adult social care continues to rise at a time when the system
supporting that care is rapidly and significantly changing. With around 1.5
million people working in adult social care in England, care workers need
up–to–date support and guidance in order to provide adequate person–centred
care.
Anyone who is thinking about a career in adult health and social care. This
qualification is suitable for learners aged 19 and above.

What is covered

This qualification develops a basic knowledge of the adult social care
sector. It covers the type of job roles and services within it, the role of
communication and the importance of valuing the individuals being cared
for.

What can this course lead to

The Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care or the
Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
