Encocam recently approached Peterborough Regional College with regards to an apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance. We found the support provided extremely helpful and professional. The Apprenticeship team have assisted us on other areas, including the provision of work experience students to produce video content for one of our events. We look forward to developing a long-lasting relationship with Peterborough Regional College!
The main benefit of the apprenticeship has been a structured approach to the training provided by both Codem and PRC. We have found better staff retention through the apprenticeship scheme that we experience by using our own training methods. We have also see improved staff motivation as a direct result of other employees being developed and given the opportunity for personal growth.

We are a small family run business that takes on all aspects of electrical work. Over the past 10 years we have worked with Peterborough Regional College for the training of our apprentices. Apprenticeships allow young people an opportunity to gain both practical and theoretical knowledge and training both in the workplace and at college, this allows the apprentices to learn skills at college and then transfer them back into the workplace. The staff at college are industry specialists and are always helpful and supportive of both the apprentices and the company.

A key benefit of having an apprentice as part of the team is that they are keen to learn and develop themselves and are enthusiastic during their training which enables us to mould their skills to meet our business needs. Having an apprentice support the existing team has allowed us to focus on other aspects of the business and has confirmed for us a definite need for a permanent position and our apprentice will now play a key role in the company’s future.
We have been employing students on apprenticeships for 30 years; it is something we strongly believe in and it’s a wonderful experience for young people. It definitely makes them more employable to future employers. It gives them working experience, whilst training, with a job at the end.
I have always been pleased with the interaction with Peterborough Regional College and have found the communication has been excellent. This is something we have never had from other training providers. The team at PRC have always been very helpful and I am always able to speak to someone when I call.

We are pleased to say that our first experience with an Apprentice has been a good one. We have been lucky enough to gain a team member, who with a little hand holding, has become a very valuable resource to the company. The coursework that went alongside the apprenticeship supported and focused the learning process, and was flexible to both our requirements and the needs of our apprentice. We are pleased to say that when our apprentice moves on to a new job in the next few weeks, that she will be very much missed.
