Support for city’s Winter Night Shelter

Staff at the College have been collecting donations to support homeless people in the city. Run by the Light Project Peterborough, the Winter Night Shelter initiative supports those that have nowhere safe or secure to stay during the cold winter nights. The project began in May 2015 on a trial basis to see how it could work and is now about to begin it’s 5th year.

Staff have provided bed linen and toiletries to donate to the project, enabling the offer of beds for up to 8 homeless people each night. Those that stay receive a warm dinner, breakfast, washing facilities and a warm bed with fresh linen, as well as opportunities to speak to volunteers who can help support them and improve their current situation and move forward with their lives.
