Peterborough College principal - Rachel Nicholls

WELCOME

I’m delighted to welcome all of our students, both new and returning, as we open our doors for the start of the new academic year.  After the considerable disruption of the last eighteen months, we are looking forward to offering our education and training programmes on campus again and hope that you share our excitement in returning to the classroom!

FOR OUR NEW STUDENTS

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Inspire Education Group, the home of Peterborough College, Stamford College and University Centre Peterborough.   Together, we offer a wide range of high quality education and training opportunities to further education students, higher education students and apprentices at our two campuses in Peterborough and Stamford.

Moving to a new college can be daunting, and it’s natural to feel a bit anxious when you’re beginning a new course.  You can be certain that our team will do everything they can to help you settle in.  Peterborough College is a positive and friendly place to study.  We are an inclusive team, where each and every student matters, and where we celebrate our diversity. We are committed to making your time with us a happy one, where you feel supported to achieve your very best.

We appreciate how difficult the last year has been and how disrupted your education has been. We know this might add to students’ anxieties. We have a specialist Student Wellbeing team who are here to support and guide you throughout the whole of your time with Peterborough College.  The team can help with all manner of queries, from transport and financial advice, to career planning, welfare and counselling services.  You’ll find the Student Wellbeing Centre in the main building near the Library – the door is always open, just drop in at any time or phone the team on 0345 872 8722.  And all of our full-time students have a dedicated Student Mentor who can support you with any issues (course-related or personal), and help you keep your learning on track.

We’re sure it won’t take long for you to settle in to your new course and feel completely at home in our warm and welcoming college.

FOR OUR RETURNING STUDENTS

Welcome back.  We hope you had good summer’s break – you certainly deserved it after the trials and tribulations of last year!  Let’s hope this year offers a more normal college life for us all.  You’ve done so well getting through the last year, and all of the challenges presented by lockdown and online learning.

We are planning a much more normal timetable this year, with the chance for you to work in person with the others in your group and to have a full and enjoyable learning experience here at college.

Don’t forget that our specialist Student Wellbeing team is there to help you throughout your studies, and you can call on your Student Mentor if you feel you need help with any course-related or personal issues.

COVID – STAYING SAFE

The health and safety of our students and staff is our absolute priority. We’ve created a really useful guide for students to explain Covid testing, access to vaccinations and the all of the steps we are taking to keep everyone as safe as possible – you can find a copy on our Student Intranet HERE:

FINALLY

College is a great place to study!  As you begin the next stage of your learning journey with us we make six important promises to you:
